Our (Asian) Mom & Dad

We got new cooks a few months ago

They’re Asian

w/ the accent and everything

They resemble the fairy tale mom and dad

They’re so in love

It’s really nice to see

They pretty much became our parental figures

We love them

They like me

Here’s a little of why:

  • I strong man. I muscle man. I come lift that.
  • I very nice boy.
  • I very busy.
  • I left handed.

The Mrs.

Every washing station and sink has two towels

They are suddenly all paired w/ matching colors

We used to just get served food

Now the meat is placed in a swirl design

Tomatoes peeled into twirls on the side

Carrots cut into flowers

And radishes too

Gefilte fish is stacked like a round pyramid

W/ a sliced carrot in the exact middle

Of each and every piece

And a (vegetable) flower on the very top

On Friday she’ll come up

And very carefully say

Good… Shobbos

She always asks

Did you have enough?

Are you hungry?

You like it?

If you come late

She gets all concerned that you didn’t eat

She insists

You need to eat something

She wouldn’t let her kids go hungry

So she won’t let you

If you have no coins for laundry

She’ll joke

About how her husband has all the money

And then she goes to her little laundry bag

And gives you coins

If it’s your birthday

She’ll tell one of the bochurim to hug you

And she’ll say the hug came from her

The Mr.

He’s the classic father figure

He wants you to behave

Be descent

And he always has advice

He tells you how important it is to always cleanup

After every meal

It’s not good to leave a mess

It’s good to train yourself

Always cleanup

He’ll ask you to help w/ something

Then gives you some extra food in return

And as he serves you he tells you

To always know

That when you do something

You get something

And always know that, OK?

Always remember that

It’s good to remember that

We need to eat the carrots

You neva see a rabbit w/ spectacles

Neva

He jokes

There is no hamburgers here

Here it just be

Burgers

He says he’s Chinese

But his wife

She has Portuguese lineage

It’s why she so pretty

She very pretty my wife

If it’s your birthday

He comes over

And gives you a firm handshake

And looks you in the eye

And gives you some wise words

Our cooks

The only thing I don’t like about them

Is their potato salad knishes

Yuck
